LESSON OVERVIEW

Video 03: Creating Compliant Landing Pages

  • These steps are very important to implement now to make sure your Facebook advertiser account does not get shut down. Most of these steps come directly from Facebook. So pay close attention and take notes.
  • The destination URL must function properly in all browsers, Chrome, Firefox, internet Explorer, Safari opera. Facebook ads are reviewed from a variety of international locations. Therefore, if you are an advertising and external website that is restricted to people in certain regions, your ad may be disapproved.
  • Ads may not direct to landing pages that trigger popups or pop-unders when someone arrives upon or exits the page. This has been one of those things that people have actually been getting accounts shut down.
  • Do NOT try to stop a user from leaving your site with a javascript alert the user has to "X" out of.  These are prohibited to have on your landing page, period and will result in them getting shut down.
  • Don't manipulate the user's behavior. Don't get them to do something they wouldn't normally do. It's invading the user and the user experience that Facebook is looking to create on their website.
  • Landing pages must clearly and accurately reflect the product or service being promoted in your ad. Do not mislead the user with images that are not about the end goal of the landing page. And you can read more about this on the ad guidelines provided by Facebook.
  • Now video ads for products and services may not be allowed to play automatically.
  • You need to add a privacy policy, terms of service, and other related legal information, easily accessible for the user to access. I prefer to put them in the footer of any landing page that the user lands on or goes through and including anything inside of the sales funnel, the user must also be able to easily identify whom they're working with and, or doing business with.
  • And lastly, add contact information best to have a phone number, email address, and mailing address to your landing page.
  • Also no outrageous claims or claims you can't prove on your ads. No fear-based ads and or super hyped angles ad copy must describe a represent the advertiser sponsored brand or product in an accurate, and non-misleading way.
  • Ads must not make unsubstantiated claims, including, but not limited to price, performance, and results. Any claim made in the copy should also be reflected on the landing page and make sure to be clear on what your landing page is providing for the user, no bait and switch.
  • You can't run an image in the fitness industry that has something to do with weight loss and you can't run supplements. Similarly, nothing on your landing page can break those same restrictions of content banned by Facebook.
  • Make sure your site is up and running and you should be good to go. Malware spyware, automatic downloads that all go on the user's computer and software without their consent.
  • If your page has a video with controls, leave them enabled. If you turn off the controls and don't allow the user to skip forward, go back, pause a video that is against the terms of service.

LESSON TRANSCRIPT

David (00:01):

Welcome back everyone in this video, we're going to talk about how to create compliant landing pages for your Facebook advertising. This is just as important as the compliance and terms video. And this goes basically side by side, with that information, as you are creating your landing pages to run ads. So stand this, these steps are very important to implement now to make sure your Facebook advertiser account does not get shut down. Most of these steps come directly from Facebook. So pay close attention and take notes. Okay, here are the steps. So for compliant landing pages, the destination URL must function properly in all browsers, Chrome, Firefox, internet Explorer, Safari opera. It doesn't matter all the browsers. It must function properly. Facebook ads are reviewed from a variety of international locations. Therefore, if you are an advertising and external website that is restricted to people in certain regions, your ad may be disapproved strange, right?

David (01:17):

You'd think by blocking out certain countries, maybe you just don't have a history of getting buyers in certain regions or certain leads. You think that you'd be saving yourself some headaches and money. Instead it may actually get your ads. Disapproved ads may not direct the landing pages that trigger popups or pop unders when someone arrives upon or exits the page. This has been one of those things that people have actually been getting accounts shut down for a lot of the people in the clients that I work with, they typically use popups or pop unders in order to basically attract leads that may have considered leaving at first. And then they decided to take a chance because they had a secondary message pop up in their window, asking them to leave their email. And unfortunately Facebook does not like that. So you want to turn off popups and pop unders from your landing pages. So you don't get your account shut down.

David (02:15):

And have you seen those landing pages that try to stop you from leaving? You know, the ones where that X pops up in the corner of the screen, small pop up appear saying something like don't leave. Yeah, that's not, it's not allowed. These are prohibited to have on your landing page, period and will result in them getting shut down. They tend to look spammy and annoying users. That's just, Facebook's way of saying no, don't do it. So don't manipulate the user's behavior. Don't get them to do something they wouldn't normally do. It's invading the user and the user experience that Facebook is looking to create on their website. So landing pages must clearly and accurately reflect the product or service being promoted in your ad. Do not mislead the user with images that are not about the end goal of the landing page. And you can read more about this on the ad guidelines provided by Facebook.

David (03:12):

Now video ads for products and services may not be allowed to play automatically. So if someone lands on your page, that video cannot automatically play. You need to add a privacy policy terms of service and other related legal information, easily accessible for the user to access. I prefer to put them in the footer of any landing page that the user lands on or goes through and including anything inside of the sales funnel, the user must also be able to easily identify whom they're working with and, or doing business with. And lastly, add contact information best to have a phone number, email address, and mailing address to your landing page.

David (04:02):

Also no outrageous claims or claims you can't prove on your ads. No fear-based ads and or super hyped angles ad copy must describe a represent the advertiser sponsored brand or product in an accurate, and non-misleading way. Ads must not make unsubs have sustained claims, including, but not limited to price performance and results. Any claim made in the copy should also be reflected on the landing page and make sure to be clear on what your landing page is providing for the user, no bait and switch. This is incredibly important. You know, all these restrictions Facebook has for its ads for certain industries, you know, like I can't run certain types of body based images. I can't run a image for in the fitness industry that has something to do with weight loss. I can't run supplements. Well, nothing on your landing page can break those same restrictions of content banned by Facebook. Make sure your site is up and running and you should be good to go. Malware spyware, automatic downloads that all go on the user's computer and software without their consent. Well, yeah, that's not allowed if you don't give them prior knowledge, that's going to occur. That's 100% against the terms of service. They do not like that. So no software programs, files or tracking devices can be placed on the users software without their approval.

David (05:37):

And I also want to throw this in there when it deals with Facebook and video, if they land on your page and that video has controls, leave them enabled. If you turn off the controls and don't allow the user to skip forward, go back, pause a video that is against the terms of service. So when it comes to creating your landing pages, consider all of these terms and conditions, these restrictions, these compliance, uh, legal Lees, the provided by Facebook that you must take into account when creating compliant landing pages to go along with your compliant advertising.
