Video 11: Gain Instagram Followers

  • Here's how you can launch your first follow me ad
  • Instagram ads in general, especially stories with story ads, all you have to do is just plug in the creative in Facebook and FB will create the ad for you. Because it's a 15 second video to swipe up, you don't have to create copy. All you need is the video itself and the URL you want people to go to.
  • So in creating a follow me ad, you are going to go about creating a campaign. So in this case, you would click on create campaign. We are still optimizing for leads if sending to a URL, but if you were doing this strictly for engagement purposes, you can click on a page post engagement, or traffic.
  • In this case, I would go with traffic. If you're gonna do a follow me ad or conversion, if you're trying to still get a conversion. So you click on traffic creates this campaign, right? So there's the campaign name. You have the ad set in this case, we're going to leave it untitled because we're not necessarily setting up an actual campaign. 
  • You fill in location, you fill in the age, the gender, the language we talked about in a previous video called audience research and creation, how you would go about creating your actual audience and the ad itself. And so you're just going through the whole process, filling in the language, the detailed targeting. 
  • Important: go to edit placements because we're focusing on stories here.
  • So we're going to uncheck all these boxes. We're going to leave Instagram, right? We're not doing the feed. We're not doing explore page. We're just doing stories. Okay? Now we go down to the ad level and you could see here all you gotta do check your page and it's all you need to do is plug in the URL and plugin the text. 
  • You actually, you don't have to do any text at all. So that makes it even easier for you. And you go to the media and you click on image or video. Most of you are going to do video and you'd plug in the video and that's it. 
  • And all we have is the URL in the video. Nothing else.  Now side note, for those of you who are like, what else do I need to do here to make this work? This video had too much text on the thumbnail. So Facebook was flagging it for too much text. 
  • So what we do is we go to thumbnail and you want to upload an image that has no text on it. And then click save that way. Facebook believes the thumbnail has no text. Even if  the video itself has tons of texts. 
  • So just make sure that you click on edit thumbnail, change the thumbnail, and then you're fine. And you'll get her on that issue. But with creating an Instagram story ad, which is particularly for follow me, that's all you would do.
  • That's how you would go about creating a follow me ad you just plug it in and then you're good to go.

Hey, everyone wanted to create this video for you, showing you how you can launch your first follow me ad. Now, for those of you who've been following the process so far, you know, that creating these ads are actually quite easy. So Instagram ads in general, especially stories with story ads. All you have to do is just plug in the creative and Facebook. Go ahead and create the ad for you. Cause it's a 15 second video to swipe up. You don't have to create copy. All you need is the video itself and the URL you want people to go to. So in creating a follow me ad, you are going to go about creating a campaign. So in this case, you would click on create campaign. You would go to in this case, uh, we were still optimizing for leads, but if let's say you were doing this strictly for engagement purposes, you can click on a page, post engagement or traffic.

And honestly, in this case, I would go with traffic. If you're gonna do a follow me ad or conversion, if you're trying to still get a conversion. So you click on traffic creates this campaign, right? I'm just showing you the process to go through. He wants people to go to his profile, got the text here. It says, learn more swipe up.

And all we have is the URL in the video. Nothing else, nothing else. Now side note, for those of you who are like, what else do I need to do here to make this work? This video had too much text on the thumbnail. So Facebook was flagging it for too much text. So what we do is we go to thumbnail and you want to upload an image that has no text on it. And then click save that way. Facebook believes the thumbnail has no text. Even if the page or excuse me, the video itself has tons of texts. Like you could see here, it won't flag the video because the thumbnail doesn't have any text on it. So just make sure that you click on edit thumbnail, change the thumbnail, and then you're fine. And you'll get her on that issue. But with creating an Instagram story ad, which is particularly for follow me, that's all you would do.

That's how you would go about creating a follow me ad you just plug it in and then you're good to go. And you put the URL, which for some of you is going to be straight back to your Instagram. So you just put the Instagram URL of your profile, or you could put a URL to a page or something along those lines where you can send people to see if they get a free gift. Or even in this case, you could tell them two steps, follow my Instagram, download my free guide or whatever it may be. And that's how easy it is to set up a follow me ad on Instagram.
