LESSON OVERVIEW

Video 08: Tracking Ad Budgets

  • Keeping track of your advertising budget helps you stay on top of your marketing expenses. Billing can be accessed through your ads manager panel or in your business manager.
  • The first time you create your ad spend limit, you won't have to worry about a minimum or maximum amount ever again, because Facebook will automatically track it for you. When you update your account, you must set a limit less than 10% above you've already spent.
  • If you've spent a $100, your limit can only be $110 at the minimum. In the billing manager, you can find a detailed breakdown of your charges, everything from the amount you've spent at that moment, all the way to the estimated amount, click on a transaction to see your charges, the charge date, and the impression or click charges.
  • You can also create an export reports to see how well your ads are performing with the budget that is going in the coordinates with the ad. In order to get started in the navigation menu of the ads manager, click on reports. The default data is for general metrics over the last 7 days for any active campaign.
  • Click on the blue export button on the top right column to download your report. You could schedule reports to be delivered to your email automatically. Click on schedule and set the frequency, the start date and your subscriber email. The report will be delivered by email on the day you specify.
  • The amount you've spent might be different since it appears as an estimate in your ads manager and your account spend limit.  It takes up to 72 hours for your ad results to be fully processed, sometimes a shorter time period, and rarely, sometimes longer.
  • If you've reached a new billing threshold, your amounts will be different as well. You are only charged for what you actually spend. The billing summary amount will be the accurate final amount. Whatever Facebook charges you is the accurate amount that you've spent.
  • It even gives you an estimate into the future as to how much you will spend within your ads manager for that specific campaign by your most accurate amount is what's spent at that moment in time based on what's been charged to your account.
  • If you're advertising an external site or have chosen clicks as an objective, you're bidding on a cost per click basis. So you won't be charged for your ad. If it doesn't receive any clicks, whether or not you have a billing threshold will determine how often you're charged for ads.
  • The billing threshold is different from your lifetime budget in daily budget. These determine how much you spend on ads. Your billing threshold is determined by certain criteria such as having an ad account with USD or Euros, or you have a credit or debit card.
  • The first threshold is $25 and increases with each successful charge of $50, $250, $500, $750, so on and so forth.  In euros, the threshold is €20 euros and increases with each successful charge in €40, €200, €400, €600, so on and so forth.

LESSON TRANSCRIPT

David (00:00):

Hey everyone. Welcome back in this video, we're going to talk about tracking budgets for Facebook advertising. So your ad budget is incredibly important. So keeping track of your advertising budget helps you stay on top of your marketing expenses. So billing can be accessed through your ads manager pain or in your business manager. The first time you create your ad spend limit, you won't have to worry about a minimum or maximum amount ever again, because Facebook will automatically track it for you. When you update your account, you must set a limit less than 10% above you've already spent. Okay? So if you've spent a hundred dollars, your limit can only be 110 at the minimum. In the billing manager, you can find a detailed breakdown of your charges, everything from the amount you've spent at that moment, all the way to the estimated amount, click on a transaction to see your charges, the charge date, and the impression or click charges.

David (01:03):

You can also create an export reports to see how well your ads are performing with the budget that is going in the coordinates with the ad. Now with ad reporting, in order to get started in the navigation menu of the ads manager, click on reports. The default data is for general metrics over the last seven days for any active campaign. And you can click on the blue export button on the top right column to download your report. And for your convenience, you could schedule reports to be delivered to your email automatically. It's all within the reporting dashboard of your ad manager, which we will go through in a later module, click on schedule and set the frequency, the start date and your subscriber email. The report will be delivered by email on the day you specify.

David (01:52):

Now here's some tips and frequently asked questions. Why is the amount you spent different in your ads manager account spend limit, and the billing sections now consider this, the amount you've spent might be different since it appears as an estimate in your ads manager and your account spend limit, it's takes up to 72 hours for your ad results to be fully processed, sometimes a shorter time period, and rarely, sometimes longer. If you've reached a new billing threshold, your amounts will be different as well. You are only charged for what you automatically, you actually spend. The billing summary amount will be the accurate final amount. So whatever Facebook charges you is, the accurate amount that you've spent the reports give you what you spent at that moment over the last couple of days over the last month and so on and so forth. It even gives you an estimate into the future as to how much you will spend within your ads manager for that specific campaign by your most accurate amount is what's spent at that moment in time. Based on what's been charged to your account.

David (02:57):

If you're advertising an external site or have chosen clicks as an objective, you're bidding on a cost per click basis. So you won't be charged for your ad. If it doesn't receive any clicks, whether or not you have a billing threshold will determine how often you're charged for ads. The billing threshold is different from your lifetime budget in daily budget. These determine how much you spend on ads. Your billing threshold is determined. If you meet certain criteria such as you have an ad account with us dollars or euros, or you have a credit or debit card to pay for your ads on Facebook in us dollars. The first threshold is $25 and increases with each successful charge of 50 to 5,500, seven 50. So on and so forth in euros. The threshold is 20 euros and increases with each successful charge in 4,200, 400, 600. So on and so forth. In the next video, we're going to talk about the Facebook power editor, and I'm going to break it down for you so that you can get started with the best platform to use when developing and publishing your ads no more. Do you need to use the basic ad creation tool? It's now time to focus on the power editor.
